Scope

Farrell Construction was appointed as the Main Contractor to rebuild the Nazareth Retirement Village on the historic Nazareth House site in central Christchurch. Completed over three years, this large-scale commercial construction project delivered 60 duplex-format villas across a sprawling eight-hectare campus, creating modern, independent-living homes integrated into a wider community of care.

Process

Working in a live environment construction setting with elderly residents required a highly coordinated, staged approach with ongoing communication. As the construction deliver partner, Farrell implemented innovative solutions such as prefabricated bathroom pods to improve programme certainty, efficiency, and maintain consistent quality. Close collaboration with IKON architects and specialist consultants ensured the design balanced residential comfort, durability and long-term value. Farrell’s carpentry team undertook all construction elements, maintaining full control over quality.

Result

The 60 villas were delivered to a high standard, providing premium independent living options that connected directly to on-site aged-care services. The successful completion of this three-year multi-unit residential construction programme has further strengthened Farrell’s long-standing relationship with the Nazareth Community of Care. We are proud of the work we do for Nazareth, in support of residents’ wellbeing for years to come.
