Scope

Ryman Healthcare engaged Farrell Construction as the Main Contractor to structurally strengthen and refurbish the Anthony Wilding Retirement Village lounge, café and pool areas, plus construct a 240m2 activities extension. This was an extensive structural upgrade and detailed refurbishment, all delivered within a live fully operational aged care environment.

Process

This high-density, live environment setting required meticulous planning and a strategic three-portion delivery programme to minimise disruption to residents and staff. First, the programme delivered the new activities centre, followed by refurbishing and strengthening the lounge and café, before lastly upgrading the chapel, cinema, dining and reception areas. As the construction delivery partner, Farrell maintained programme certainty though constrant communication. Our in-house carpentry team self-performed all structural and fit-out elements, ensuring a consistent high-quality finish.

Result

Delivered on time and within budget, the project has created a revitalised and expanded village centre that enhances daily life for residents and supports Ryman’s ongoing "Continuum of Care" philosophy. This project reinforces Farrell's reputation as a Main Contractor in Canterbury capable of navigating the sensititives of the aged care sector while delivering complex structural and aesthetic upgrades.
