Scope
Waipapa – Acute Services Building (Tower 3) at Christchurch Hospital is a critical healthcare facility and one of the South Island’s most significant and complex commercial construction projects. The building delivers acute care services including operating theatres, ICU, emergency department functions, and highly serviced clinical environments, all requiring stringent compliance, structural precision, and coordination.
Process
Our role as a specialist carpentry subcontractor involved delivering extensive internal and external framing and finishing carpentry. Working within a highly serviced, technically demanding environment, our team was responsible for achieving exacting tolerances and quality standards essential for healthcare delivery.
We operated within a tightly programmed project, coordinating closely with the main contractor (Naylor Love) and a wide range of specialist trades. The nature of the build required careful sequencing, adaptability to ongoing design development, a main contractor mindset, and a strong understanding of complex service integration, particularly within clinical and back-of-house areas, all while maintaining strict Tier-1 health and safety compliance.
Result
Supported by experienced site leadership and a highly scalable workforce, we maintained consistent delivery across multiple work fronts while upholding strict health and safety protocols. Our involvement in Waipapa Tower 3 reflects our capability to deliver high-quality carpentry and technical fit-out works within critical, large-scale healthcare environments, where precision, multi-trade coordination, and programme certainty are essential.
